Israeli authorities have accused a terrorist released in the Shalit deal of murdering Baruch Mizrahi, the police officer killed on Passover eve near Hebron on April 14.
The accused, Ziad Awad, 42, a resident of the Arab village of Idna near Hebron, was arrested by an elite police unit while they were searching for the three abducted boys last week.
Police Commander Mizrachi was murdered while travelling to celebrate Passover with his family. His wife was wounded in the attack.
DNA samples, finger prints and other incriminating material were collected at the attack scene. An indictment was filed today against Awad for murder and attempted murder. His son, Adin, 18, was accused of helping him arrange the attack and flee the scene.
Awad was released in October 2011 as part of the Shalit prisoner exchange deal, having been sentenced to life in prison for murdering Arabs who were suspected of collaborating with Israel.
