A Palestinian teenager was shot and killed after trying to stab an Israeli soldier on Tuesday morning, in the fifth consecutive day of attacks in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The attempted knife attack took place at a checkpoint near Bani Na’im, outside Hebron, during a search. The assailant has been identified as 16-year-old Issa Salem Tarayrah.

The soldier was not injured. The army said in a statement: “The assailant was shot by the forces and killed”.

This is the ninth attack in under a week.
