The National Jewish Assembly called the gesture ‘genuinely admirable’

Award-winning actress Sydney Sweeney recently met freed hostages Noa Argamani and Avintan Or, Israeli advocacy group StandWithUs has revealed.
The photograph, which shows the 28-year-old Euphoria star smiling with her arms around the pair, comes three months after Or’s release from Hamas captivity.
Argamani and Or were kidnapped during the attack on the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023 and held for 246 and 737 days, respectively.
A viral video of Argamani being ripped from Or’s arms by Hamas terrorists became one of the most enduring images of the massacres.
After enduring inhumane conditions, Argamani was rescued in June 2024 during an IDF operation in central Gaza, while Or was released in October as part of the latest Gaza ceasefire plan.
Sweeney’s appearance with the two survivors has been received as a statement of support, garnering widespread praise from Jewish figures on social media.
“Turns it’s not just the jeans that fit well, it’s the values too,” wrote Itai Biran, a US-based Israeli diplomat, referring to Sweeney’s recent collaboration with denim brand Levi’s.
Likewise, the UK National Jewish Assembly heralded Sweeney’s acting skills and the effort she made to meet the freed hostages, saying: “Brilliant actor, and genuinely admirable to see her take the time to meet them and show support.”
Sweeney’s appearance with Argamani and Or follows similar support for the hostages shared by her boyfriend Scooter Braun, a music executive and descendant of Holocaust survivors. A frequent speaker at StandWithUS events, Braun also met Argamani in 2024.
In the wake of the Bondi Beach massacre last month, Braun stated: “My Jewish friends feel like everyone is talking about gun violence or a massacre, but no one is talking about the fact that these were Jews in an increasingly hostile and dangerous environment for Jews all around the world.”
Regarding the photograph, hostage advocacy group Bring Them Home Now wrote on Facebook: “Thank you, actress Sydney Sweeney for choosing to stand with survivors… Being free is not only about release, but it’s about being seen, believed, and never forgotten.”
