According to the US State Department, Israel and Lebanon's ambassadors are due to have a second round of direct negotiations on Thursday in Washington.
It comes amid a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, during which time Israel has said breaches continue daily.
Israel said it had, in two separate incidents yesterday, killed terrorists "who violated the cease-fire" by approaching the line it says marks an Israeli-controlled buffer zone in southern Lebanon.
The IDF again warned Lebanese residents not to return to border villages.
The United States is also expected to request that Lebanon repeal its law criminalising any contact between Lebanese citizens and Israelis, according to Saudi daily Asharq Al-Awsat.
