articlemain

A plane has been forced to make an emergency landing off the coast of Tel Aviv.

The small aircraft ditched in the Mediterranean near the city’s Metzitzim beach after the pilot reportedly lost control of the flight on Sunday morning.

There were no serious injuries or casualties reported.

People who appeared to be passengers were pictured holding on to the side of the plane. Witnesses say two people, a 57- and 47-year-old, were rescued from the craft. They were treated at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Centre for minor shoulder injuries.

The scene drew many locals, some of whom took pictures of the crash.

According to reports, the pilot, who was due to land at the nearby Sde Dov Airport, lost control of the plane, before landing in the sea. The airport is mainly used for domestic flights to and from Eilat, in the south, and Ovda and the Golan Heights, northern Israel.
