Shimon Peres is to follow up his trip to the UK this week with a meeting with President Barack Obama in Washington. It will be the Israeli President's first visit to the White House in almost two years.
Mr Peres is expected to lay out some of the details of a new Middle East peace plan at meetings with US government leaders, including at a "working lunch" in the White House.
The agenda for the lunch with President Obama will be "US-Israeli security cooperation, recent developments across the Middle East and the pursuit of peace between Israel and its neighbours", the White House said in a statement.
According to Israeli reports, the plan Mr Peres will outline will be further discussed by Mr Netanyahu next month when he addresses the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee policy forum.
