Knesset Member and former ambassador to the US, Michael Oren, said this week that he was in favour of setting up a Knesset probe into the operation of "binary options" companies in Israel. The companies, which employ hundreds of English and French-speaking immigrants to Israel, have been accused of committing fraud by offering vulnerable customers around the world investment and currency exchange schemes in which many lose money. Since Mr Oren is not a Knesset committee chairman, he has no authority to set up an inquiry himself and it is unclear whether any of the serving chairs are interested in doing so.
