A hotel backed by Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio has won planning approval to be built in the Israeli city of Herzliya, according to the Jerusalem Post.

DiCaprio owns a 10 per cent stake in the project, which is being bankrolled by the Hagag Group and multi-millionaire brothers Ahikam and Lior Cohen.

The hotel will be built by the Hagag Group and will cover 51,000 square metres on the city’s renowned marina.

Hagag has now announced that the proposal has been granted approval by the Tel Aviv District Planning and Building Committee, which will allow the construction of a 14-floor hotel boasting a total of 365 rooms.
