Justin Bieber performs in 'amazing' Israel

Justin Bieber has performed for the first time in Israel to a crowd of screaming fans.

The star, famous for the song Baby, was greeted with rapturous applause when he took to the stage at Hayarkon Park.

The Canadian teenager, whose manager Scooter Braun is Jewish, arrived in Israel on Monday morning and checked in at Tel Aviv's Sheraton Hotel.

He spent the week visiting different sites, but condemned Israeli paparazzi for following him into a church in Jerusalem. A much-vaulted meeting with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a group of Israeli children affected by rocket fire from Gaza was cancelled at the last minute.

However Justin seemed in a better mood at the concert. He wrote on Twitter after that it had been "an amazing amazing place [and an] amazing show."

He added that he was blessed and that he was "never going to forget this one".

A group of 700 children and teenagers from Sderot and other communities near teh Gaza border were given free tickets to the concert.

Oren, 15, said she had been forced to stay inside for much of the previous week. "It’s tough to not be able to go out and see your friends or just go outside without worrying.

"It’s so fun to get out of Sderot," she said. We really love his music and it’s gonna be an amazing night."
