Israeli woman injured in stone-throwing attack and attempted kidnapping

articlemain

An Israeli woman has been injured after stone-throwing caused her to lose control of her car.

Rotem Aharoni, who is in her 20s, suffered minor injuries after crashing into a guardrail on Route 90 near Lake Kinneret, when a Jordanian man threw stones at her vehicle. According to Ms Aharoni, the assailant then attempted to pull her out of the car; the incident is being investigated as an attempted kidnapping.

After a two-hour manhunt, the Jordanian was found by Israeli security personnel, who shot him in the leg in the process of subduing him. Both assailant and victim were taken to Poriyah hospital, near Tiberias, to be treated.

Answers are being demanded by Idan Greenbaum, head of the Emek Hayarden Regional Council, who said: “We are very worried that a Jordanian citizen can cross the border and walk around the area without a lot of trouble.”

It is currently unclear exactly how the man crossed the border; Israeli police have launched an investigation.
