An Israeli actress has set a new world record for years spent working in theatre.
Hanna Maron, who was born in 1923, began acting as a four-year-old in her native Germany and continued her career when she moved with her family to British Mandate Palestine to escape the rise of Nazism.
The 87-year-old’s credits include the Fritz Lang film M and the Israeli film He Walked in the Fields.
Her record for having the "longest career as a theatrical actress" was confirmed this week by Guinness World Records.
Ms Maron, who served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service of the British A rmy during the Second World War, was among the passengers on an ElAl jet hijacked by Palestinians in 1970. She lost her leg in the attack, which took place as she was en route to London to star in a production of Fiddler on the Roof.
Next month she can be seen in Tel Aviv’s Cameri Theatre's production of the play "Suitcase Packers," a comedy set in the suburbs.
