It has been back to the classroom for children across Israel today as schools have fully reopened nationwide.
There have been closures for just under two months since the war against the Iranian regime began at the end of February.
Frequent air attacks both from the Islamic Republic and also from Hezbollah particularly tageting the north of Israel have forced temporary closures.
Now, all schools have reopened, including those in the north near the Lebanon border.
The announcement from the ministry of Education comes after the IDF's Home Front Command updated its security guidelines due to the ceasefire with Hezbollah and after the ceasefire with Iran.
“The system has been prepared in advance for this scenario, and the ministry will provide and continue to provide all necessary resources to ensure the immediate and full opening of all frameworks,” the ministry said.
A previous decision to reopen schools by the ministry allowed for local authorities to deem whether they wanted to heed the advice or to remain closed. Today’s announcement is mandatory and all schools will reopen.
Education Minister Yoav Kisch said that it is an “important moment for students [and teachers]”.
“We must all work towards an optimal and swift return to close learning gaps and strengthen social resilience," he added. “The ministry is providing all the necessary tools to ensure a quality and immediate return for every student."
After-school activities, which have also all been suspended during the war, will also return with immediate effect.
A ten-day ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah was announced by US President Donald Trump on Thursday.
