Israeli defence minister Naftali Bennett has signed off on the administrative detention of a Jewish terror suspect.

The 19-year-old, named by the court as Eliya Ben David after a request from his legal aid, was alleged to have thrown rocks at a vehicle, injuring a Palestinian man.

He was initially released by a Lod District Court due to lack of evidence but was re-arrested before he had left the courthouse.

Administrative detention allows for terror suspects to be held indefinitely without trial, and is usually reserved for Palestinians.
