Another Israeli child has died as a result of being left in a car under the sun, the third incident of its kind this month.
An 18-month old girl was left for five hours in a car in the West Bank settlement of Dolev on Monday. After a passer-by found the baby unconscious, paramedics rushed the girl to hospital where she later died.
According to an investigation, the child’s father forgot the toddler was in the car.
A day earlier, a five-month old baby died in a car in the settlement of Shiloh. Reportedly, the child’s father went to sleep after working as a security guard overnight and forgot his baby was still in the car.
Earlier in the month, a nine-month old child died after being left in a car in Ramat Gan, Tel Aviv.
According to figures released by Safe Kids Israel on Monday, more than 200 cases of babies left alone in vehicles have been reported in Israel since 2008, of whom 12 have died.
Dr Zvi Zemishlany, director of Geha Psychiatric Hospital, made the statement: "I don't know if any parent could forget his child in a car, but under certain circumstances, such a tragedy could certainly happen to normative parents."
