Israel has agreed on an open-ended ceasefire with Hamas.

A massive rocket barrage from Gaza conicided with the deadline for the end of hostilities, however.

The deal includes an initial period in which all firing will stop and restrictions on crossings will be eased for humanitarian aid, with long-term issues to be addressed after one month.

Army Radio today quoted a government source confirming that Israel had accepted the Egyptian proposal.
