Amazon has been conducting Hebrew surveys asking Israelis about using the platform to buy and sell, with growing speculation that the company is looking to expand its operation into the country.
It was reported last year that Amazon would be opening research and development divisions in Tel Aviv and Haifa, and the company has also recently polled Israeli customers about their buying habits.
In July this year, the Globes Israeli business news outlet quoted Ronen Simgi, chief executive of Gaash, the subcontractor that operates shipping and delivery to Israel for Amazon, talking about the huge increase in orders they had received during a free delivery deal offered by the tech giant.
“Israelis ordered 50,000 packages in the free delivery deal just in the past few days,” he said. “It’s madness.”
