Israeli officials are working on an unusual request from an Iranian soldier who wants to leave the regime which said this week it was "ready for war" against Israel and the West.
The Iranian soldier has sought help from the Knesset for him and his family to make aliyah from Iran.
Ynet reports that in his message the soldier said that although his parents became Muslim due to fear of the regime, his grandparents were Jewish.
The man considers himself Jewish and asked for advice on leaving Iran.
The request was made to Knesset Member Danny Danon, the chairman of the Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Committee.
Mr Danon told Yedioth Achronot that Israel was treating him as a Jew and the initial goal was to make sure that the man was safe.
He added: "He is basically asking us to rescue him and expressing his wish to move to Israel."
