At least four people were killed and 20 injured after a car park under construction in Tel Aviv collapsed on Monday.

Several people were trapped for hours inside the underground structure in the Ramat Hahayal neigbourhood, on the corner of Habarzel Street and Nehoshet Street.

Yoram Levy, a spokesman for the firefighters, told Haaretz there were "people buried beneath the sand".

In a visit to Ichilov Hospital, where some of the injured were treated, Knesset Member Ayman Odeh (Joint List), said that those hurt came "from all parts of society", including Jews and Arabs.
