The IDF has confirmed the elimination of the Hamas commander who “brutally murdered” 19-year-old hostage Noa Marciano in November 2023.
Noa, from Modi’in, was an IDF corporal abducted from the Nahal Oz base on October 7 and taken into Gaza.
On November 9 of that year, she was lightly wounded in an IDF airstrike and taken to the Shifa Hospital.
Hamas later published a video of Noa speaking to the camera, saying her name and the names of her parents and hometown. The video then cut to an image of her lifeless body.
The terror group claimed she had been killed in Israeli strikes on the hospital, which the IDF said targeted terrorist infrastructure in the complex.
The military recovered her body on November 14 and confirmed the cause could not have been the airstrike, instead finding that she had been murdered by terrorists inside the hospital.
She was brought home to Modi’in, where she was laid to rest.
All of the terrorists guarding Noa were killed in strikes during the course of the Gaza War, leaving only cell commander Muhammad Issam Hassan al-Habil alive.
Shin Bet subsequently confirmed through interrogations of captured terror suspects that al-Habil was one who had brutally murdered Marciano by injecting air into her veins.
Al-Habil was eliminated in a strike on Gaza City’s Shati Camp on Wednesday, which the IDF carried out in response to an overnight attack on troops in northern Gaza.
Noa’s mother, Adi, said: “We were promised [by the IDF] that everyone involved in Noa’s murder in Gaza would be eliminated.
“[The] promise was kept today.”
But she added: “There is no real comfort in this... There is knowledge that justice was done, even if only partially, for Noa. Nothing will bring her back to us.”
“She was a beloved child, full of light, sensitivity, and joy of life, and her absence accompanies us every day and with every breath.
“The pain of her loss will never end.”
