The IDF has confirmed that it has launched a "broad" counter-terror operation in the West Bank.
The military, in collaboration with Shin Bet, sent troops to a number of Palestinian towns, including Tubas, Tammun, and al-Aqaba, yesterday morning.
It did not clarify whether any specific incident or concern had triggered the operation.
But the Times of Israel suggested that it was launched in relation to a general uptick in terror-related crimes in the territory.
"The IDF and Shin Bet won’t allow terror to become established in the area and are working actively to thwart it," read a joint statement.
Palestinian media reported that troops imposed a curfew in affected areas and blocked several roads with bulldozers.
Three IDF brigades are taking part in the operation, including the Commando Brigade, as well as the Shin Bet and Border Police.
A number of suspects were arrested but no charges have yet been brought.
Troops are also searching for weapons caches, and there are no reports of any injuries.
The expanded operation follows months of counter-terrorism activity focused on Jenin, complicated by the presence of a sizeable refugee camp in the area.
Military officials are reportedly concerned about the build-up of terrorist infrastructure in the West Bank and the threat posed from within the territory, as much of the security establishment’s recent attention has been directed towards Gaza.
