Hostage families camp outside Netanyahu’s home and accuse him of sacrificing their children - The Jewish Chronicle

The families of several hostages still being held by Hamas in Gaza have set up camp outside Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem – accusing the Israeli Prime Minister of “consciously choosing to sacrifice” their loved ones, amid reports that the IDF had its main ground operation in Gaza City.

According to the Hostages Families Forum, which hastily called for the protest on Monday evening, a significant number of the 20 hostages considered by Israel to still be alive are being held in Gaza City – likely above ground – as human shields.

"The families of the hostages are receiving with deep concern reports of the major military operation launched tonight in Gaza City,” they wrote on X.

“After 710 nights of being held captive by terrorists, tonight could be the final night for hostages who are barely surviving, and our last chance to locate and recover the deceased for dignified burial.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu is deliberately choosing to sacrifice them for political considerations, completely disregarding the assessments of the Chief of Staff and security establishment.”

The families of Matan Zangauker, Rom Breslavsky, Matan Angrest and Guy Illouz all joined the camp, as did the father of Guy Iluz, who died in Hamas captivity, and former hostages Ilana Gritzewsky and Arbel Yehoud, whose partners Matan Zangauker and Ariel Cunio are still being held captive.

“My Ariel is in real danger,” wrote Yehoud in an Instagram post. “The sounds of the explosions from Gaza shake the walls of my home and the chambers of my heart. I am going up to Jerusalem to the prime minister’s residence, and I need you with me to save everyone.”

Zangauker’s mother Einav told reporters that the families did not intend to leave, as they feared that the military’s operations ordered by the government were endangering their loved ones.

“I have one interest: for this country to wake up and bring back my child along with 47 other hostages, both living and deceased, and to bring our soldiers home,” she said.

“[Netanyahu] doesn’t like hearing us here, so he ran away like a coward,” she added. “We will follow him everywhere, day and night. It’s over. The gloves are off. If he stops at nothing and sends our precious, brave, heroic soldiers to fight while our hostages are being used as human shields, he is not worthy of being prime minister!”
