An Israeli university is one of only two institutions in the Middle East to appear on an annual list of the top 100 universities around the world.
Hebrew University of Jerusalem was named in the 71-80 category – rankings beyond 50 are grouped in tens - of the annual Times Higher Education world reputation rankings.
The only other university in the wider geographic region on the list was the Middle East Technical University in Turkey.
Hebrew University, which has a student body of some 23,000, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2018, although it did not officially open until 1925.
