Hamas has confirmed the death of at least two operatives after a tunnel collapsed in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday evening.
Some sources put the death toll as high as four, however, while eight others have been reported missing after the tunnel caved in.
Last week, seven Hamas terrorists were killed when a tunnel collapsed as a result of heavy rain in the West Bank. The men have been named ‘Martyrs of the Preparation’.
Hamas build the tunnels, which lead from under the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory, with the aim of carrying out terror attacks or kidnappings.
The IDF have said they believe Hamas’s underground infrastructure to be almost as extensive as it was before the 2014 Gaza conflict.
