The Hamas terrorist who held British-Israeli Emily Damari hostage was killed in an Israeli airstrike last month, the IDF has confirmed.
The military revealed today that Nasr Ali Quneita was eliminated on June 19 after being specifically targeted in Gaza.
Quneita was also one of the terrorists who invaded Israel as part of the October 7, 2023 massacre, which saw 1,200 killed and 240, including Damari, abducted.
The IDF said he was a member of Hamas’s military intelligence unit in the Sheikh Radwan Battalion, known in the IDF as the al-Furqan Battalion.
A military spokesperson said: “The IDF & ISA eliminated Muhammad Nasr Ali Quneita, the Hamas terrorist who infiltrated Israel on October 7 and held Emily Damari hostage.
“Quneita was a terrorist in Hamas' Al-Furqan Battalions' military intelligence, who infiltrated Israel on the brutal October 7 massacre and held Emily Damari hostage in his home at the start of the war.
“He was struck in Gaza City on June 19. We will keep pursuing every terrorist behind the October 7 massacre.”
Damari was finally freed in January as part of a truce deal and returned to her family in the UK after 417 days in captivity.
Following her release, she spent several week in hospital after losing two fingers in the assault 18 months previously. The gunshot wound sustained to her hand was crudely sutured by terrorists, but she remained in significant pain throughout much of her time in Gaza.
Since hearing the news of her captor's death, Damari has taken to social media, saying: “This is what the face of evil looks like. A face I will never forget. I’m so glad he is no longer (in) our world.”
She also posted about the other hostages, including her close friends Gali and Ziv Berman, who are still being held by the terror group, writing: “The real victory will be when Gali, Zivi, and the other 48 hostages return home.”
Out of the 50 hostages it is believed that only 20 are still alive, with the remains of the other 30 still held by Hamas.
