A close relative of the Hamas Prime Minister has reportedly received emergency medical care in Israel.

Ismail Hanieyeh's brother-in-law is understood to have been treated in Petach Tikvah earlier this year, after suffering from a heart attack.

According to Israel's Ynet, he remained in the hospital for several days recovering.

Last year, Hamas celebrated its 24th birthday. Mr Haniyeh told a rally in Gaza: "Armed resistance is the way, and it is Hamas's strategic choice to liberate Palestine." Hamas ideology includes a refusal to recognise Israel or renounce violence against the Jewish state.
