One of the two men charged with murdering five members of the same Jewish family including a three-month-old baby has expressed pride in his brutality.
The brutal attack on the Fogel family in the West bank settlement of Itamar in March this year sent shockwaves around Israel. A month after the murders, two men were arrested in the village of village of Awarta, near Itamar.
Amjad Mahmad Awad and Hakim Awad were indicted at the Judea and Samaria Sector Military Court on Sunday. According to the Israeli news website, Ynet, Amjad Awad told the court he was proud of what he did and had no regrets.
The men have confessed to the murders and according to the Israeli military, they match DNA evidence found at the Fogel family home.
They were also charged with stealing weapons, conspiracy to commit a crime and breaking and entering.
The bloodied bodies of Udi Fogel, his wife Ruth Fogel and three children aged 11, four and three months were found late on a Friday night by the couple's eldest daughter.
The Fogel children's grandfather said at the time that he would not wish anyone in the world to witness what he saw.
Chaim Fogel described the scene as "horrendous, beyond description, beyond comprehension".
