Over a dozen Israelis have been wounded and one has died in a spate of stabbings around the country today, including one attack in which the victim reportedly pulled a knife out of his own neck and used it to stab his attacker.

In the attack in Petah Tikva, a man drew a knife on a shopper in an off-licence and stabbed him. The victim and the shop owner managed to overpower the assailant, took the knife – which was already partially embedded in the shopper’s neck - and stabbed him to death.

Two Israeli police officers were wounded in Jerusalem on Tuesday afternoon, with one in a critical condition.

According to police reports, the assailant fired shots at police officers, wounding one seriously and wounding a second officer while fleeing. The suspect shooter, identified as Fouad Tamimi, 25, from Issawiya in East Jerusalem, was shot dead.
