The singer-turned-activist told Sky News “we’re down to some base level of bestiality”

Bob Geldof has said that all Israelis who are aware of “what’s been done in their name” are complicit in current situation in Gaza, claiming: “We’re down to some base level of bestiality.”
Justifying his comments, the 73-year-old singer-turned-activist, who was speaking with Sir Trevor Phillips on Sky News on Sunday, said: "They are the ones at war. Their government is at war in their name."
When Sir Trevor pointed out that Israelis had taken to the streets weekly to protest their government, Geldof replied: “if Israelis want to protest, get in your cars… stuff your cars full of food and drive through your border, and let your army stop you.
“Stop it. You guys stop it. Shame on you!”
Later, when Geldof was pushed on whether it was “unfair” to blame all Israelis for the situation, he replied: "What is unfair is what is happening to these babies.
"What is unfair is that one hour from the hunger people are sitting down to their unthreatened dinners about to turn on the next Netflix soap."
Despite saying, “I entirely support and endorse the state of Israel,” Geldof was scathing of its leadership and the IDF. "The Israeli authorities are lying... Netanyahu lies, is a liar. The IDF are lying,” he said at one point.
He also spoke about Israel's aid efforts in Gaza, referring to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation as a "pantomime outfit".
"They are dangling food in front of staving, panicked, exhausted mothers, and while they arrive to accept the tiny amount of food that this sort of set-up, pantomime outfit, the 'Gaza humanitarian front' as I would call it, as they dangle it, then they’re shot wantonly.
"This month up to a thousand children or a thousand people have died of starvation.
"I'm really not interest in what either of the sides are saying."
The IDF told Sky News that Israel "does not limit" aid to Gaza.
In a statement, it said: "Despite the false claims that are being spread, the State of Israel does not limit the number of humanitarian aid trucks entering the Gaza Strip.
"Over the past month, we have witnessed a significant decline in the collection of aid from the crossings into the Gaza Strip by international aid organisations.
"The delays in collection by the UN and international organisations harm the situation and the food security of Gaza's residents."
Geldof’s comments came just weeks after Geldof he stated he "would not do Live Aid for Palestine".
He said: "I'm constantly asked why not do a Live Aid for Palestine… But the thing is pop music doesn't do that anymore.
"Pop music back then was the spine of society, it defined what we were and where we could go. That's being supplemented by social media these days so a concert wouldn't work."
Geldof also suggested that, while the original Live Aid had a practical goal in terms of supporting humanitarian efforts in Ethiopia, a new version for Gaza would not be effective in ending the war that is the root of the issues in the Strip.
"The point about a concert is you need to posit and end that's achievable,” he said. “The end to Palestine, my answer always is, is the two-state solution.”
