Birthright Israel trip to get Hollywood treatment

articlemain

A Welsh filmmaker is to direct a film telling the story of a Jewish boy visiting Israel for the first time on a Birthright tour.

The twist in the film, which is to be called Birthright, is that the protagonist joins the trip to pursue the Israeli girl he is in love with, but instead falls for a Palestinian. He then finds himself in the middle of a media storm.

It will be directed by Marc Evans, who is known for the horror film My Little Eye.

The script has been written by duo Ari Issler and Ben Snyder, who visited Israel in order to research the film.

The film is set for release next year and is to be shot on location in California, Israel and the West bank. It is being produced by BoomGen Studios, whose previous credits include the Walt Disney picture Prince of Persia and Julian Schnabel's Miral.
