Israel Film Fund director Katriel Schory is among the honorees at the Berlin Film Festival, which begins on February 15.

Mr Schory presides over an annual budget of some 18 million Euros, which has brought over 240 Israeli films to audiences worldwide.

Mr Schory said that the award is given in recognition of Israeli cinema and the Israeli Film Community. 

He added that the last year has been a peak year for the Israel Film Fund: with an audience of more than a million viewers who watched  films supported by the fund such as Maktub, Scaffolding, Longing and international hit Foxtrot.

Two new Israeli films, Red Cow and Sleeping Bears, are also set to premiere at the festival.
