Warner Brothers has announced that there will be a Wonder Woman sequel after the first film, starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot in the title role, was a major box office hit this summer.
The Wonder Woman 2 announcement was made at the San-Diego Comic-Con on Sunday as part of a reel showing the studio’s upcoming projects, and was met with enthusiastic response from fans.
The first movie, which opened in early June, has been the highest grossing hit of the summer, earning approximately $765 million worldwide so far. It is already the third-highest grossing film ever in the US for Warner Brothers, surpassing all the Harry Potter films and behind only Batman films The Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises.
Ms Gadot also captured fan’s hearts at Comic-Con after a video showed her comforting a young female fan, Ashley Keller, who was overcome at meeting her.

"But now we're friends so there's no reason to cry anymore, all right? Because we are together," the actress can be heard saying.
Ms Keller’s mother, Christine, later tweeted that her daughter “was so happy to meet her that she was tearing up. Gal was so sweet to her. Memories of a lifetime!”
