The executive director of the Zionist Federation, Joshua Forman, is to leave next week to return to education.
Mr Forman, who had been director of learning for science at Hasmonean High School, joined the ZF at the start of this year.
"The draw of the classroom and an exciting opportunity has opened up for me, and I want to follow these," he said.
Paul Charney, ZF chairman, said, "There was potential for him to stay on but there was always a chance he'd go back to education."
Steve Winston, campaigns manager at the ZF for the past seven years, will take over as executive director.
Mr Forman's predecessor Emma Bergen lasted only a few weeks in the post before moving to the children's book club, PJ Library.
