Some 1,200 alumni and supporters of Jerusalem’s Mir Yeshivah attended a dinner at a Wembley Stadium banqueting suite celebrating the achievements of Israel’s largest religious school.
Diners travelled from yeshivot across Britain and from as far afield as New York for the dinner, planned by committees in Stamford Hill, Manchester, Gateshead, Antwerp, Zurich and Gibraltar.
Mir Yeshivah opened with 10 students in pre-war Europe. Alumni are regarded as part of an extended family and are encouraged to retain close links to the yeshivah.
