What are the biggest headaches the boss of Britain’s most successful supermarket encounters?
Well, addressing 230 guests at a World Jewish Relief business breakfast in London’s West End, former Tesco CEO Sir Terry Leahy recalled his greatest challenges as “the introduction of the Clubcard, getting the balance right between sharing success with shareholders and employees and, finally, the decision to take Tesco international”.
He went on to congratulate WJR on “the considerable and sustained support you give to isolated and vulnerable communities around the world”.
More than £90,000 was raised from the breakfast at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, which was also used to launch WJR’s Give an Hour initiative, encouraging supporters to donate one hour of their salary to help women in the former Soviet Union gain the skills to secure employment.
