Warden knocked over by van

articlemain

A van driver has been arrested after a father-of-10 was knocked over in Stoke Newington on Monday afternoon, suffering a serious leg injury.

Aaron Weiser, 50 - the warden of Satmar Synagogue in Clapton Common - was struck on the pavement close to a bus stop on Upper Clapton Road. The van also hit a female pedestrian, who was not seriously injured.

Two Hatzola ambulances attended the scene, along with police and an ambulance.

Mr Weiser was taken by paramedics to the Royal London Hospital.

The 29-year-old motorist was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and was bailed until late August.

A police spokesman said: "At this early stage, inquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of the incident. This is not being treated as a racial incident, just a road traffic collision."
