In one of Anglo-Jewry’s biggest mass participation events, a record 7,500 people supporting 85 charities are running or spectating at Maccabi GB’s Community Fun Run at Allianz Park in North London today.
Around 3,000 people of all ages are running in a variety of distance categories. A Maccabi spokeswoman said a particularly popular addition this year had been the “colour run”, where participants are showered with Holi powder at various points along the course. “We are always looking to find ways to lift it.”
The event also features a family fun zone with attractions including inflatables and arts and crafts. “And every charity gets a stall to showcase what they do.”
Since its inception in 2007, the fun run has raised some £2 million for charity.
