Theresa May has praised the impact of Mitzvah Day in a message in advance of the annual day of good deeds, which takes place on Sunday.
“I am proud to have taken part in Mitzvah Day activities in previous years, seeing first-hand just some of the important work done by more than 40,000 volunteers in the UK and globally," she said. "Throughout the last decade, I have watched Mitzvah Day grow and attract more volunteers, with more projects and more faith groups participating each and every year.
“Mitzvah Day is a special time when thousands of people of all faiths and none come together to help others and make a real difference to the communities in which we all live. I wish everyone taking part a very happy and successful day.”
Politicians across the political spectrum and religious leaders are also supporting Mitzvah Day, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.
