Sir Eric Pickles has told a Redbridge meeting he firmly believes the battle against antisemitism will be won.
The special envoy for post-Holocaust issues addressed an audience including Holocaust Survivors Centre members at Jewish Care’s Redbridge community centre.
“The battle against antisemitism and Holocaust denial is very much alive,” he said. “It’s that background that has spurred the government to build a dedicated Holocaust memorial and learning centre.
“Its purpose is to offer education to ensure that hatred that exists is countered and countered well.
“I feel strongly that the Holocaust is not just about Jewish people but about wider society.”
The meeting was chaired by Jewish Care chief executive Simon Morris.
