With Stamford Hill special needs school Side By Side holding its gala dinner at the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium, who better to invite than Ossie Ardiles?

The Spurs legend mingled with the 300 guests during the reception, posing for numerous selfies.

Some £400,000 was raised from the dinner, which will go towards funding staff and specialist equipment.

Entertainment included a performance by singer Shloime Gertner, who preceded it by explaining the work of Side By Side and its impact on the wider community.

Eighty children are currently educated at Side By Side, with 15 on the waiting list. It is looking towards moving to a state-of-the-art building.

Headteacher Gerald Lebrett said the evening had been “a fantastic opportunity for us to share with our supporters the many success stories.

“We celebrated the achievements of a unique school, which offers so much more than an education for its pupils.

“I feel immensely privileged to lead an organisation that puts the needs of the children at the centre of everything.”
