New 'sixty-something' rabbi is recruited by West London

Shul 'lucky' to have someone with Rabbi Gershon Silins' background

Rabbi Gershon Silins, who was inducted as the minister of Norwich Liberal Community in January, is to join West London Synagogue as a part-time interim rabbi.

“We are lucky to have someone of his knowledge and background to help the rabbinic team," West London chairman Patrick Mocatta told congregants.

The Chicago-born minister, who describes himself as in his 60s, was among the 2019 graduates from the five-year rabbinical course at Leo Baeck College. He said then that those he served would have the benefit of a “freshly ordained rabbi with 30 years’ experience”.

Rabbi Sybil Sheridan, a part-time member of West London's clergy for several years, will leave at the end of summer.
