The mother of a boy who lived for just 142 days was part of team which completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London in support of other families with a baby in neo-natal intensive care.

Ruth Berenblut ran for Donnie’s Fund, established in memory of her son, who had Edwards’ syndrome, a rare genetic condition which causes a wide range of severe medical problems. Although the target was £10,000, the team has so far raised £17,000.

“This was my first half marathon,” Mrs Berenblut said. “Donnie only lived 142 days but some of his happiest moments were spent in the Royal Parks, so it seemed apt to run through these beautiful spaces and raise funds in his name. I am really grateful to everyone who ran for Team Donnie.  It was a great event, running past iconic London landmarks, through green spaces and with an amazing atmosphere.”
