In line with government guidance and United Synagogue guidelines, more US shuls will be reopening over the next week. By mid-March, the expectation is that some two dozen US shuls will be open for services.
Communities open this Shabbat include Barnet, Borehamwood and Elstree, Cranbrook, Magen Avot, Mill Hill, Mill Hill East, Muswell Hill and Woodford Forest.
US communities director Jo Grose said the reopenings followed “meticulous planning. We know how important our shuls are to our members. We will also continue to support our communities who feel it best to remain closed for the time being.
"Although some of our shuls are shut, the wonderful array of online programmes and pastoral support being provided means our communities are very much open.”
Within other movements, Alyth Reform in Golders Green is resuming small-scale services from this Shabbat and New North London Masorti has pencilled in a March 20 resumption.
