Head of the WZO delegation in the UK, Izchak Sonnenschein, saw it as an important addition to its work. “This difficult time we’re in has [led to] wonderful initiatives such as this club and other digital lectures and cultural events. We would like to continue to develop these according to the demands of the British community.”
Participants include Sandi Mann from Manchester, who said the social club was “a brilliant way to immerse yourself in Ivrit twice a week as well as learn about Israeli culture. The teacher speaks slower than Israelis for us, which is a bonus!”
Another regular, Joy Berger, said the sessions were improving her vocabulary and understanding of the language. “So much work goes into each session and I would like to thank the WZO for putting them on during this difficult time when I, as well as many others, have been locked in for so long.”
