A Manchester-based Jewish charity is one of 16 faith groups to have been awarded grants by the Department for Levelling Up, Communities and House to support work with the most vulnerable.

Jewish Action for Mental Health will receive £93,000 for activities that will include delivery food to those in need.

It provides therapy and counselling and its initiatives have included interfaith art workshops.

Faith Minister Paul Scully said,  “We saw the instrumental role that faith organisation played in supporting vulnerable people during the pandemic. Working closely with local partners, councils and government, they supported communities where they need it most.

“This pilot scheme will build on that vital work, so that faith organisations and their partners can continue to support communities as they recover.”

Among other recipients of grants totalling £1.3 million is the Faith and Belief Forum, which was awarded £41,000.
