The Manchester Day Limmud incorporated the launch of its madrichim training programme, seen as an investment both in the next generation of Limmud leaders and in UK Jewish leadership in general.

Young Limmud veterans Zoe Jacobs and Miriam Katz are co-chairing the training programme, whose participants have previously been involved in Limmud and in youth movements, synagogues, camps or within other communal frameworks. “We will give our best and brightest madrichim top-notch training to enhance their roles in Limmud and to apply in every leadership context in which they are involved,” said Ms Jacobs, 26.

Ms Katz, 24, added that the intention was also to “include training to support children with additional needs to ensure Limmud is as inclusive as possible”.

Sunday’s Limmud was attended by a record 700 people. Among the sessions was a panel of Joshua Rozenberg, Mark Lewis, Ariel Abel, Dovid Lewis and Robert Rinder discussing: “Is there a Jewish perspective in English law?”

Bangladeshi Shadman Zaman’s “journey to Judaism” was another popular session and there was the opportunity to cook 19th century-style at the Jewish Museum’s bakery.
