For the fourth year running, the Elstree area Orthodox communities came together for an educational event organised jointly by the Hertfordshire Learning Experience and Seed.
Close on 100 members of the United, Federation and Sephardi shuls attended the pre-Pesach seminar at Yavneh College featuring a keynote address by Rabbi Dr Akiva Tatz.
There was then a choice of talks on aspects of the festival from Rabbi Shimshon Silkin of Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue, Rabbi Raphy Garson of Ohr Yisrael Federation and Rabbi Jeff Berger of the Rambam Sephardi Community. JC columnist Miriam Shaviv also addressed the gathering.
HLX was established five years ago in memory of Shenley Synagogue minister Rabbi Shmuli Kass. Its founder, Rabbi Garson, said: “It is a credit to Borehamwood and Elstree that Jews of all walks of life and varied religious backgrounds are inspired to learn. This was Rabbi Kass’s dream. It is always wonderful to have extra learning in the community.”
