Jami float boosts its mobile reception

Mental health charity takes its message to the streets

Mental health charity Jami has launched a mobile addition to its Head Room café in Golders Green — Head Room To Go.

Thanks to the support of the Locker Foundation, an electric milk float has been converted into a mobile café to go out into the community.

Embodying the sustainability objectives of Jami social enterprises, it will deliver both kosher food and drinks and information about the charity’s mental health services. The mobile café is under Federation kashrut supervision.

Jami chief executive Laurie Rackind said that “as we move toward resuming a more normal pre-Covid lifestyle, it is clear that for people with mental health problems, being able to access treatment and support isn’t always straightforward.

“And there are those people who continue to remain isolated. Being able to take the café out to the community is a huge opportunity for people to feel connected and approach mental health support.”

The mobile café will be available for booking by shuls, schools, work venues and community centres. This week, it was on “the beach” at JW3.
