Dance teacher Yuval Tabashi believes he can most practically demonstrate his love of Israel by “bringing Israeli dance to as many people as possible”.

It is an ambition he hopes to fulfil in his new role as project development manager at the Israeli Dance Institute in London.

The 23-year-old wants to get young people involved, explaining that dance is an ideal medium to educate about Israel.

He uses Israeli music old and new to explore aspects of history, nature and Judaism.

Mr Tabashi has been dancing since the age of 10, when he joined a group at school because he liked one of the girls in it.

He will be attending New North London Synagogue during his two-year stay, during which he hopes to build on the institute’s programme with events such as an Israeli dance competition.

There is also the potential to reach the wider community as an institute spokesman pointed out that “not
everyone who attends Yuval’s Thursday classes is Jewish.

“We encourage all ethnic groups to attend,” the spokesman added. “For example, Yuval will next week be teaching a Bible group from Hong Kong.”
