Some 50,000 candlesticks will be distributed around the country to encourage as many people as possible to take part in Shabbat UK next month.
They are going out to institutions including hospitals, prisons and schools for the Great Friday Night Light, which Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis says will, "share this beautiful tradition of peace, family, and continuity with as many Jews as possible".
Other activities will include a Sharing Shabbat Art Gallery at Hendon United Synagogue featuring works by community members and the Whitefield 500 programme, reaching congregants of the Manchester shul through learning sessions in their homes. Kinloss in Finchley will hold an event for young professionals.
More than 50 communal challah-make sessions will be held nationwide.
