Britain's leading Holocaust education charity has appointed a new Chair after 10 years.
The Holocaust Educational Trust has selected Craig Leviton, a communications professional with over 25 years of experience in the industry, to chair the organisation from March 2022.
Leviton said:“I am honoured to be appointed as Chair of the Holocaust Educational Trust and to follow in the footsteps of Paul’s superb leadership as Chair. It is a real privilege to take on this role for a remarkable charity.
"We move to a point where the Holocaust becomes solely history. We will do all we can to ensure that everyone, everywhere knows of the horrors of the Holocaust and the brave and brilliant survivors who made this country their home.
"I am delighted to take on this role, working with Karen Pollock and her outstanding team.”
In a press release, the HET named several initiatives as highlights of Mr. Phillip's time as chair including taking nearly 1,000 sixth form students to see the site of Bergen-Belsen for themselves and overseeing The Stories from Willesden Lane schools initiative which enabled 8,000 10–13-year-olds to engage with the history of the Kindertransport.
Paul Phillips OBE said: “I am proud of all we have achieved at the Holocaust Educational Trust over the past decade. It has been an honour to work with the inspiring Holocaust survivors and to see young people from all walks of life benefit from the Trust’s vital work.
Although I am stepping down as Chair, I remain committed to the Trust in supporting a cause I will always care deeply about.
